2017 Mackenzie A&P Alpaca Entry Forms (4 ALPACA ENTRY FORMS combined into one form)

Closing date for most entries is on March 10th which gives you plenty of time to prepare your entries.

Please consider entering as exhibits are an important part of the Show…with over 1000 classes, I’m pretty sure there is at least one class for everyone!!! Maybe one of these areas will catch your eye: home and farm produce, wine and home brew, cooking, flowers, patchwork, needlework, art, crafts (card making, scrapbooking, jewellery, sculpture, carving, pottery), photography, dog trials, local pet dog (children), highland dancing, piping and solo drumming, alpacas, wearable arts, equestrian (from miniatures to draught), sheep, wool, cattle, goats or poultry (chickens, ducks and pigeons). Lifestylers… check out the Flock Sheep classes or enter your alpaca, goat, chicken or duck!

Some annual inclusions in our Show which are not common among A&P Shows are Highland Dancing, Pipe Band competitions and a NZ Kennel Club Show as well as Wood Chopping, Mackenzie Shears in our NEW SHEARING PAVILION (a Shearing Sports NZ competition) and the Mackenzie Cowboy Challenge ( ).  This year, other attractions will include Fencing Demonstrations and a Man vs Machine Fencing Competition, Craig Smith, author of the Award Winning “Wonky Donkey” who will be not only playing, but also may offer a free creative writing workshop (contact Secretary if interested), The Sparkle Fairy, a great children’s entertainer, Country Kidz and, of course, the carnival.

With so many more events to choose from these days, the Society has had to think outside the box.  We have to offer many forms of new and unique entertainment while still maintaining the traditions of the A&P Shows which people expect. In recent years, some of the non-traditional elements we have included are: a Country Kids Agricultural Skills Competition, hosting of the Aoraki Regional Young Farmers Competition, a Table Top Expo for Mackenzie based businesses, clubs and organisations, Fairlie Heritage Museum Display, Beef & Lamb NZ Cooking Demonstrations, The Mackenzie Mile Competition for local runners and a Ukelele group who gave free workshops.  The addition of each of these items adds to the uniqueness of the Show and also helps to promote the Show to a slightly different audience. Throughout the year, we also hold a Winter Feed Competition and support the local schools on their Pet Days.  Each year, the challenge is to come up with another new idea or two… it’s a good thing we have a great Committee full of ideas!

We also have a wide variety of food available…from the kid’s favourites (hot dogs, chips and snow cones) to food with a more unique flavour (Mexican, Japanese, ‘Wild’ NZ food, Turkish kebabs, etc)…something for everyone. Food/Coffee tenders are available in mid-October and close mid-November.  Please contact us if you would like to be added to the database.

There are over 400 sites…shopping for everyone…men, women and children!!! If you are interested in booking a site, applications are out now (due on the 10th of March). Download here 2017 Mackenzie A&P Trade Space Application.

We have a couple more pages available for advertisements in our Programmes (out of the 7 total). The Programmes are given out free to everyone who enters the Show and are a great way to advertise your business and support the Mackenzie Show. Contact the Secretary ( ) for more info.

Lastly, we would like to thank all of our sponsors – the Show couldn’t run without you.  If you are interested in our sponsorship packages, please contact us…In particular, we would like to thank our major sponsors- Farmlands, Four Square Fairlie, Lemacon Ltd, Mackenzie Supply Services, NZ Dorper Breed Society, Rabobank, Ravensdown Fertiliser Co-Operative, The Front Store Engineering Supplies/Andar, Tui, Waste Away South Ltd/Timaru Hire, Westpac AND TO OUR MAJOR SPONSORSHIP PARTNERS IN THE MACKENZIE SHEARS SHED: Alpine Energy, Barwoods Ltd/ Mackenzie Supply Services/ Temuka Transport, Goldpine, Gordon Handy Machinery, Heiniger, Mainland Wool, Makikihi Fries, PGG Wrightson Wool, Point Lumber, Ravensdown.
